New Zealand Derby winner Vin De Dance is likely to head straight to Melbourne to begin his spring campaign.
The Roc de Cambes gelding, who followed his Ellerslie classic victory with a
second placing (relegated to fourth) in the Rosehill Guineas and fourth
in the Australian Derby, has returned to the Cambridge stable of Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman.
“He’s back in work and we’re very happy with him,” Baker told www.theinformant.co.nz.
“He’ll go to Melbourne in the spring and we’ll find some suitable races for him over there.”
Baker added that the reasons for targeting Melbourne in the spring were obvious.
“They’ve added $23 million to stakes in the spring carnival and associated races – unbelievable,” he said. “So if you’ve got a capable horse, you’ve really got to have a go at it. We'll probably look to take five or six horses over there this
year.”
