Group One winner Vin de Dance (NZ) (Roc de Cambes) will contest Saturday’s Gr.1 Bonecrusher New Zealand Stakes (2000m) on route to Australia for the Gr.1 Sydney Cup (3200m) held at Randwick on April 13.
Prepared by Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman, Vin de Dance was a tough winner of the Listed Kaimai Stakes (2000m) at Matamata last start.
“We will bring Vin de Dance over to Sydney – he won the New Zealand Derby (Gr.1, 2400m) last year and he ran second in the Rosehill Guineas (Gr.1, 2000m) but was relegated to fourth. Then he was fourth in the Australian Derby (Gr.1, 2400m),” Baker said.
“We brought him back over for the Spring in Melbourne, but he wasn’t right. He only had two starts and then we took him home. “But he’s come back well and I think he’s on the improve now. The Sydney Cup looks like it will suit him.”
Raced by OTI in conjunction with breeder Luigi Muollo and Kilted Taniwha Syndicate, Vin de Dance has won in excess of $800,000 in his 15 career starts.
