Trainers Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young won't commit to the Gr1 Toorak Handicap for Sierra Sue (Darci Brahma-Centree, by Centaine) until they know the weights, reported racing.com.
"I'm just worried about what sort of weight she's going to get, I'd say she would probably carry about 56 kilograms," Young said. "We'll just see how much weight she gets in the Toorak without having Behemoth or Probabeel going in that direction, they are all going to carry a couple of kilos more than we originally thought. We'll pay up and if she happens to draw off the track we can always go to the Tristarc which is eligible for the bonus going into the Myer (Empire Rose)."
The winner of the Empire Rose is eligible for a $1m bonus if they have come through one of twelve races, one of which is the Tristarc. "For the amount of wins she's had from her starts she deserved that Gr1, we always thought early days she'd get up to Gr1 class at some stage but we always spaced her races and tipped her out when she told us."
A last start winner of the Gr1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes over 1400m, Sierra Sue has won eight of her eighteen starts with earnings over $1.1million. Passed in as a yearling, Sierra Sue sold for only $2,000 at the New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale before being sold privately to Australia after a trial.
