Love Reigns (2f U S Navy Flag - Humble And Proud, by Pivotal) provided first season sire U S Navy Flag with further Stakes success when justifying favouritism in the Listed Bolton Landing Stakes at Saratoga.
The Wesley Ward-trained bay emerged as an exciting prospect in April, when bolting up on debut at Keeneland, where she scored by nine lengths and three quarters. The performance earned her a trip to Royal Ascot, where she finished fourth in the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes, and was ridden by Irad Ortiz Junior once again on Sunday.
Tracking the pace in the early stages, she was angled out to challenger turning for home and was soon in command, striding out to score by two and a half lengths. As the winning rider later said, “She did everything perfect.”
“She's a nice filly,” Wesley Ward continued. “She certainly stamped herself here as our top prospect for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint.”
Love Reigns is owned by Stonestreet Stables LLC, having been bought by Ben McElroy as a yearling for €160,000. Bred by Patrick Grogan, she becomes US Navy Flag’s second Stakes winner this month, with Ocean Vision having captured a Listed sprint at Deauville.
