Queenslander Dick Karreman purchased The Oaks Stud in 2002, with his vision 'to make it one of the top Stud Farms in Australasia'.
Rick Williams was appointed as General Manager, with responsibility for implementing and realising this directive.
The Oaks Stud is now spread over 500 acres of prime grazing land, based in Cambridge, New Zealand, the center of the New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeding Industry.
The farm employs a team of highly experienced & professional staff who are vital to the day to day running of the operation.
The Oaks Stud owns a band of 50 select broodmares, and prepares a draft of 10-15 yearlings each year for the Karaka Yearling Sales Series. As well as our breeding and sales stock, we also have a racing team of approximately 50 horses which run in the famous blue & white Karreman colours.

and Group 1 winning miler The Chosen One make up the 2023 stallion roster.
Group 1 winners raced and bred by The Oaks Stud include the champion racemare Seachange, a winner of 7 Group 1 races, dual Group 1 winner Recite as well as Artistic, Risqué, Devise, Keepa Cruisin and Catalyst.
Group 1 horses bred and sold by The Oaks Stud include dual Group 1 winner Shuka, Sakhee's Soldier & Zagalia as well as a host of Group 2 & 3 winners.
